Samsung ST5500 Price, Features and Specifications :
Reportedly the world´s slimmest 7X zoom camera, the Samsung ST 5500 is one of the more affordable models here and yet it has by far the best screen. So sharp you could slice your eyeballs open just looking at it, the LCD makes framing shots easy and reviewing your handiwork a dream.
It also has the biggest image sensor in terms of pixel count its 14.2 megapixel CCD beats the cannon by 0.1 of a megapixel there is no doubt that the Samsung’s still snaps are excellent, with natural colors and decent details. We spotted a bit of noise as low as IS0 250 when zooming to the 100 percent view in Photoshop, but most users will never notice this when using the camera for general snappery.
We are not hugely impressed with the user interface though, which drops the traditional mode dial for a more menu based system which means lots of tedious button pushing. Another adverse side effect to this is that you cannot switch modes as rapidly as on the other cameras.
SO rather than a pocket sized companion for downsizing pros look upon the ST 5500 as a step up for far sighted happy snappers. Samsung ST 5500 is just about small enough for jeans pockets. The Panasonic and Sony are not, while the Cannon and Fuji film will go in with a fight if you are determined. A 7X zoom lens gives the equivalent of 30-300mm on a 35mm camera, so it is not great for wide-angle shots.
